Google street view just launched in Japan. I'm starting to compile a list of places...

http://maps.google.co.jp/maps?f=q&hl=ja ... 6219809976 Tennozu Isle

http://maps.google.co.jp/maps?f=q&hl=ja ... 7152723051 Juuban entrance

Feel free to add more. I plan to compile a front page update soon, and eventually update the wol website for free virtual tours people can take.

I found some locations, according to the map from "Warriors of Legend"--good read, btw. Here's the locales--just click on the name and you'll see it!

T*A Private Girls Academy
Roppongi Tunnel/TV Ashita Tower
McDonald's (Formerly Game Crown Center)
Hikawa Shrine
Statue of the Red-Shoed Girl
Juuban Inari Shrine
Rose Mansion
Darkness Hill
Juuban Assembly Hall
Tokyo Jikei-e Medical Sciences School
Akasaka Hikawa Shrine
Ichinohashi Park

I'll be adding more here as I find more!

P.S. Now I see what you mean, Jed. I added the actual location where the anime's Hikawa Shrine is located.

Great job! I'm really proud to see that you were able to do all this with the help of the map in the book. I hope to add to your list soon.

Incidentally, the Juuban Inari Shrine isn't the anime Hikawa (that would be the Akasaka Hikawa); it's a cultural landmark.

Google street view is bloody brilliant. There should be a way to tie these together in some sort of "movie" as you move around Tokyo.

Can you imagine how much data they need to do this sort of thing? Mind boggling. I wonder if there's a way to do street view in a Google Earth kind of application. They need to figure that out!!

So I'm in Tokyo right now, and went by both Hikawa shrines (as well as most of the WoL sites yesterday. I really liked Akasaka Hikawa, but it seemed to be lacking a staircase like we see in the anime. I did see a smaller one on the right side of the shrine. Was that it? or did I miss something incredibly obvious?

I wonder where Usagi's house would be located? Obviously, it's a fictional house, but I wonder which neighborhood/location it would be on the map if it were real?

Maybe you could join Jay's tour should he do it again? I've tried visiting those sites near the end of the 90s but couldn't manage to visit many of them due to the lack of time.

Maybe it's Takeuchi's old residence there? I've no idea where exactly it was, tho.

I've seriously spent HOURS searching the Abazu Juban area trying to locate similar houses and have been hilariously unsuccessful. I haven't found any house that even comes close to vaguely matching it. But i am awful at searching for things from satellite views. There seems to be a serious lack of trees in that area of Tokyo while Usagi's house is surrounded by them!

Does anyone have the location of the PGSM Tsukino house?

Well its already the 21st century so back in the 90s (the era of Sailor Moon) there would have been many trees that would explain why your having difficulty finding the house ^_^'

It has a relatively long stair case if you are coming from the Akasaka side (as opposed to the Roppongi side), which has two stone lions. It isn't as humongous as the one in the anime, but it's still decent in size.

Glad to hear you're taking the WoL tour! How have you found it so far?

As for Usagi's house, Hans once found one in Mita which looked remarkably similar.

I don't think there's a particular house that inspired the one in the show, he just found one which looked like it. I have a photo somewhere.

Good question! :keke: And unlike in the anime, that same house definitely exists somewhere there, unless it's been demolished/rebuilt since then. Maybe someone could mobilize the net community over there to find its coordinates, like a net treasure hunting game? rantipole

[EDIT]
Some useful info about the PGSM shooting locations, complete w/ maps & photos, can be found here:

http://loca.ash.jp/info/2003/s2003_sailormoon.htm

I haven't spotted the Tsukino residence there, tho, or have I missed it?

Would this be Juuban Junior High?

A familiar high school?

Didn't know that some of that buildings really existed - I thought they where the rezult of the imaginations of the ones who made the anime. Great job, guys! Is a pitty that the old Game Center become a "McDonald's" (we have to admit that the times had change; in 1993-1995 even in rich countryes not all people had consoles and this game centers where socialization points; now is not like that any more).
B.t.w., this theard made me want to watch "Sailor Moon" again (I didn't watch "Sailor Moo" for some time).

^ That's why they changed it to a karaoke in PGSM, as it had become a favorite meeting place of youngsters by that time. :)

In the anime, you can see that somewhere behind Usagi's is a tall building. This may be a clue.
Maybe if some one walks throu Toyo, he/she will find the house.

Its also sad that the Juuban shopping tower has been dimolished, the one we see in episodes where the senshi go shopping and stuff

I don't think that anime house is based on a real thing, but if it is, walking thru the 23 wards of Tokyo to find it would be quite something. rantipole
