Anybody watching Jeopardy?

They were asking this question about some "Lunar" anime show by Naoko Takeuchi about a magical girl... I wonder if you guys knew what that was.

(Or at least, that was the answer...)

rantipole, I already posted something in the Off Topic about that. I recorded it, but I have no idea how to upload from VHS to digital... Or at least, I don't have the means to...

And yeah,I knew they were going to avoid the category. I'm surprised they were able to answer at all.

The one guy (Dave) got Pokemon right, said Akira wrong (said Akiro). Then, the lady tried to answer Transformers with "Bee Story" but then Dave answered correctly. He got Sailor Moon right, and nobody even tried to answer Princess Mononoke.

Yeah, the whole category was anime. They saved it for last.

Man, I always dreamed of winning $1600 for answering "What Is Sailor Moon"

EDIT: Did anyone report a few years ago that sailor moon popped up in an answer choice to a question on trivial pursuit unhinged? I have no idea where the game is in my house now, but if I get time this week I'll try to find it. IIRC i think the question was about some blonde doll being created in 1959, the answer was Barbie but Sailor Moon was one of the choices

No I don't. It was Japanese toy lines "Microman" and "Diaclones", which were brought over to the US as a Transformers and as an American show. It was animated in Japan and Korea, but then most cartoons are animated somewhere in Asia. The main writing staff, actors ... were all American.

The show eventually got it's own original series in Japan that were aired there first and sometimes exclusively, but the same can be said about Ninja Turtles.

Unless of course you're insinuating a toy line should be considered Anime...

I still have the tape, and luckily I work in IT, so if I have time during work I'll get my boss's husband to help me convert the part of the VHS to digital- I know what have a converter.
