I know a lot of you were bummed out to find that there was going to be no Sailor Moon coming out for the Wii. However, I stumped upon the next best thing, thanks to the Twilight Hack.

For those of you who don't know what the Twilight Hack is, it's a hack developed by Team Twizzers which found an exploit in Zelda: Twilight Princess. The exploit will work it's magic when you either try to leave Olden or talk to Ila or "the Man" near Link's house. Apparently both of them want to talk about Epona, but that's what the exploit is all about. When the hackers load a name longer than a certain number of characters, the game "crashes" but, you can load a boot loader in its place!

If you have a copy of Wii Zelda, and for most of the emulators out there, an SD Gecko (it's a SD card adapter that's shaped like a memory card on the Gamecube and can be picked up on Amazon.com for dirt cheap) then you can run the Twilight Hack. All you need to do is figure out your version of Zelda by looking on the underside of the Game DVD and find the binary code and load the special boot loader as your save file.

Once you do that, the game will "crash" but load up your favorite Gamecube emulator (It needs to be a .elf file...Use this application) . On my first time, I was able to load Genesis Plus, a Genesis emulator for the Wii and guess what it plays.....? SAILOR MOON!!!!!

Just yesterday, Askot and dsbomb from tehskeen.com have updated the snes9xgc emulator to work in wii mode. I can confirm that all Sailor Moon SNES games work and 100% playable under this emulator. For your Sailor Moon SNES goodness, download this and tell them thank you for us moonies!

Here's a good video to show exactly what the Twilight Hack does and shows off Genesis Plus, the very same emulator I used to play Sailor Moon on:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lY7A1-qkOdk
**If you go to tehskeen.com, get the 080301 build for native wii mode**

**You will need to be registered at tehskeen.com to download files like this**

That's cool - and nothing is messed up on the wii afterwards?

Not at all, you'll just have to power off the Wii manually when you're done. Since that post, I found yet another emulator that can be used for the Twilight Hack to play even more Sailor Moon games. This time, it's RIN Wii, a Gameboy/Gameboy Color Emulator. This is the first emulator that I've seen for the Wii so far that loads its roms through the front SD card slot.

To pick up this, go here

*Again, you need to be registered at tehskeen.com to download this emulator*

Finally, the day has come. After months of planning the future of Destiny Revival, this is what I've worked so hard on for Otakon 2008 and now the Sailor Moon fan world will know just what my big "secret" was.

Introducing...
Image
PRETTY GUARDIAN SAILOR MOON
For the Nintendo Wii

Image *Very early WIP picture*

That’s right! Destiny Revival is going mainstream by creating Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon – The Game for the Wii!
- Following the story of the live action series, play as Usagi and all of the other Sailor Senshi as they battle it out with Queen Beryl of the Dark Kingdom!
- Featuring Widescreen gameplay for up to 4 players and will use Wiimote functionality to unleash devastating special moves!

Here are a few shots from the PGSM demo.

Sadly, it wasn't ready for Otakon, but I did show the actual Wii engine by debuting Code Name Sailor V on the Wii for the first time to the general public. Needless to say, people were impressed that fan gaming has finally caught up with the next generation consoles. I also announced that I would have Sailor Moon S and PGSM both playable at next year's Otakon *July 17th -19th* How I'm going to do that is yet to be determined but trust me it will.

Now, go out there, tell your friends and Keep on supporting Destiny Revival!

Is this WiiWare? Or like an actual disk game? What is going on here!?

Actually this is homebrew, but it will load through a channel, Homebrew Channel that is. Using the Twilight Hack (which I've mentioned before to load emulators onto the Wii to play the retro Sailor Moon games) and the Homebrew Channel, all of my previous Sailor Moon Destiny Revival releases, Sailor V, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon AND the later releases will all be playable on the Wii.

It's not really official, but hey, I'm making it happen, and it's on the Wii WITH crazy wiimote controls! Isn't it too good to be true? ...Well, it is true. :D Just ask aDam and the PGSM panel members. They saw it in action at Otakon ^^

...now if only aDam could hurry with those video clips rantipole

The parts you will require is Zelda: Twilight Princess (you can borrow a copy or use your own) and a copy of the Twilight Hack. For those of you who updated your systems for wiiware fixes, there is now a v3.3 compatible Twilight Hack save for you to use on the same site.

Basically what you need to do is check the underside of the Zelda Wii DVD and see what the end bar code reads. When you know what the region code is, use the Twilight Hack that corresponds to that bar code save and load it on a SD in the Wii's front slot. *Warning* SD Card should ONLY be in FAT format, FAT32 will not work. Transfer this to your system and save it.

The next thing you're going to need is the Homebrew Channel installer. You can find that here. When you run the twilight hack for the first time, it'll try to load a boot.elf file (which should be your installer.) Once you install that, you can download all of the applications, emulators and media players you want. The best place to go is tehskeen and look for an application called Wii Homebrew Browser. When you download this app and load it to your Wii's front slot, you can download all of those cool apps. Eventually OpenBoR Wii will be there too. Thus, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon and all of the previous Sailor Moon games I've released thus far will be playable on the Wii. :D How cool is that?

Clips will be online shortly. At an hour each they are quite large and I'm having problems uploading one of them. I've had to restart 3 times now.

As a matter of fact you can! My excerpt from the first post:

There's also a new application out called the Wii Homebrew Browser that works just like the Virtual Console, except it's for downloading applications, demos, and media players for Wii Homebrew. There are more advanced Super Nintendo emulators now that can be downloaded this way but I still think the one I have is pretty good :D but I do like the convenience of the SD Front Loading.

That application is also available at tehskeen.com.

I LOVE the twlight hack! I'm playing Another Story on it. I haven't play it IN YEARS!

I wish someone would make another Sailor Moon RPG.

Your game looks great! Are you going to make any other SM games after this project?

BTW if you ever want someone to test the game out, I havew the homebrew channel on my Wii and would LOVE to test drive the game.

That's an easy one.

1) Go to tehskeen.com
2) Register for a free account
3) Search for an application called Homebrew Browser
4) Install this onto your SD card and load it via the Hombrew Channel
5) You need Wifi enabled to do the next part - Browse through the vast library of Wii emulators, media players, and demos and find what you want. When you find something you like...
6) Download it!

When you reboot, your apps will show up in the Homebrew Channel now.

Sweet, that should make it easier to get apps on my SD card. Yay for less swapping it between my Wii and PC.

Also, if any of y'all don't have at least the Homebrew Channel installed yet and want to, don't download the new Wii update. It will block its installation. If it's already installed you're fine to get the update and not have to worry about losing the channel.

Actually....HBC has released a beta 9, which counteracts the block that Nintendo did. All you have to do is download it, install it on your Wii and you're good to go!

When you do the apps your folder structure should look like this:

SD Card > apps (folder) > *Name of app* (folder) > All the app data

http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Homebrew_Channe ... tup_Format

Thanks a ton, Cancer.

Update: I got SOME apps working. The ones I cant, I dont know if Im doing something wrong or if the apps are just broken. Namely the DVD player and the Saturn emulator I cant make function. However, I have the snes emulator running well, and even got the english version of Panel De Pon working. I've wanted to play that for ages.

Maybe now I'll finish Sailor Moon Another Story.

We have another scare coming down the tubes from Nintendo themselves.

According to their new "Network Policy":

"We may without notifying you, download updates, patches, upgrades and similar software to your Wii Console and may disable unauthorized or illegal software placed on your Wii Console to ensure that your Wii Console is operating properly and efficiently, comply with applicable laws, assist law enforcement, protect us and our customers, or prevent the use and distribution of software obtained through improper channels."

With that being said, those of you who want to play Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon or Code Name Sailor V for that matter on your Wiis, DO NOT INSTALL the v3.4 Update available for the Wii today. It will disable the Twilight Hack and the Homebrew Channel itself. I'm pretty sure bushing is already working on a workaround for this. Just be patient.

Just to say:

- Saturn emulation is a pain, and last I heard the emulator on the Wii wasn't all that grand.

- Same goes with the DVD player. Last I heard some DVDs work others don't.

I wasn't planning on downloading the update today anyways, but I do have a question. Does that new policy only go into effect on systems with the 3.4 upgrade and have to be agreed on, or go into effect without agreement of the policy change on pre-3.4 systems?

It depends. My guess would be that the policy is effective to anyone who has their Wii online. THEN AGAIN 3.4 might have some extra thing in that allows them to auto update without you knowing. So you would need 3.4 to have then use it.

This is probably going to be any one that upgrades to v3.4, but I know now that people have already made a new IOS file that gets the benefits of v3.4 without the actual upgrade so your Wii will be safe to do homebrew but I'm looking for a more permanent solution.

Trust me, if I don't do anything, you shouldn't either ^^

Well it sounds like I'm safe from auto updates then since I too won't mess with an IOS file to fake the upgrade for me. 3.4 doesn't add anything I need so I'll wait alongside you for a permanent solution. I'm just glad 3.4 didn't disable the shop channel like the latest 3.3 did so I can still get my VC fix. ^^;;;
