Power Rangers is on DVD in Germany, which is technically an official release, but this is the first time we're getting region 1 season sets.

XD that would be so exciting. I would love to have all orignals back. Especially digimon which does have officials but they are hard to grab. and some are hard to find.

I know there is a ton of bootlegs around everywhere however I still think it nice to know there are officials. :)

From what I understand, the only official Digimon DVDs in the US are the first 13 episodes of Season 1 and the movie. Everything else is a bootleg (Digimon is one of the most popular shows with bootleggers). However, there are official season sets of the series being released in Australia, giving me hope that the US may get a new release sooner or later...

This is totally awesome. I loved MMPR as a kid.

Whenever my siblings and I would play MMPR in the backyard, I was always the Blue ranger (Billy). I had two sisters so the girl rangers were always taken. XD

On Monday we reported Shout! Factory’s acquisition deal with Saban for the rights of over 700+ episodes of Power Rangers, as well as other related shows, to be released on DVD. However, now we know more.

The deal for the mountain of shows is limited to the 1993-2009 run of the show, which excludes the very negative received 2010 re-edited version of the original Mighty Morphing Power Rangers and also currently airing Samurai/Super Samurai seasons, the license of the DVDs of these are unknown at this time. The rights also only extend to North America region, America and Canada, and Masked Rider was not included even though Saban does still own the rights to the show.

Good because that show was trash. :|

In other news, one of the Shout reps visited RangerBoard and that thread has gotten larger since the last time i visited at 35 pages. :eeklez:

Since they're open to requests, one member made a perfect list for what should be included in these sets.

I'd love to see the Bioman pilot if it's out there.

And uncut Zyu2 footage if it also exists.

I would love interviews with Amy Jo Johnson, Austin St. John, David Yost, and perhaps some mini-documentaries. A memorial tribute to Thuy Trang (the original Yellow Ranger) would be nice as well.

And none for Walter Emanuel Jones? :(

And I know I said it already, but I wish they'd put out Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog. Someone should tell that Shout! Factory guy that... or something. XD

I'm sure Jason David Frank would be part of that, too. He reps his Ranger colors hard in his MMA stuff. :P

That would probably be a bad idea seeing as how he claimed in past interviews to have been treated miserably for being gay which led to his exit from the show.

If they're going to do any tributes then they should be for all of them.

Yeah, him too! Sorry, I forgot to list him! ^_^'

Well, they don't have to ask him about why he left. Even if he does bring it up, they could just cut it out. :P

Well, they should do them as necessarily. Not all of the deceased actors appeared in the first season. I personally feel that Thuy Trang's should at least be done for Season 1, and Machiko Soga's should be done for maybe for the next set, and so on...

I'd argue that the first crossover is what was the precursor to the many Sentai crossovers (the first crossover being between JAKQ and Goranger). Of course, that depends on whether or not you count them as Super Sentai (as opposed to just Sentai), but I'm pretty sure they were retroactively fitted into the "Super Sentai" category ever since Gaoranger's 25th anniversary.

/mebeinganerd =3

D'OH. Forgot about that one. And yeah they are considered Sentai now thanks to Gokaiger.

Actually, both Goranger & J.A.K.Q. were considered Super Sentai before Gaoranger's 25th anniversary movie & before Gokaiger.

Quote:
The name "Super Sentai" was introduced in the 1979 series Battle Fever J. Originally, Gorenger and its successor JAKQ were not included as Super Sentai series. In episode 0 of the 1989 series Turboranger, when it honored the past ten Super Sentai series, Battle Fever J was listed as the first Sentai. It was not until the 1995 series Ohranger that Gorenger and JAKQ were included as the original first two series.

It should be noted that even if Gorenger and JAKQ were not labelled as Super Sentai during the time that term was introduced in Sun Vulcan's run in 1981, AkaRanger and Spade Ace were part of an official Red Warrior picture.

Although Choujuu Sentai Liveman was officially treated as the tenth Super Sentai show at the time, there was a VHS released at the time of Choushinsei Flashman that had all of the Super Sentai openings, including Gorenger's and JAKQ's. Also, during Gosei Sentai Dairanger in 1993, the term "Cho Seiki Zen Sentai" (Super Century All Sentai) was coined as an umbrella term for both, Super Sentai and the Ishinomori shows. It was later dropped in Mirai Sentai Timeranger's run back in 2000 and declared Gorenger and JAKQ as part of the Super Sentai franchise.

The series is on Netflix and I re-watched the entire thing. Prior to Tommy becoming the White Ranger, the show is mostly monster of the week and forgettable. After White Ranger, it becomes more arc based and better (the way they handled Kimberly's departure was awesome). A shame as I preferred Jason as leader.

I'd probably pick up S3 and Zeo on DVD though.

I want Digimon Adventure released on DVD too. Or at least Toei could sub it and put it on the internet, like they did with Adventure 02.

When I heard about the edits, I was freaked out, but not gonna lie, those are some minor edits (some of them are glitches). The only ones that got me mad are the Time Force ones censoring out everything that was REMOTELY destructive with generic fire shots...

well post 9/11 the opening changed in time force and things were cut out.I still remember one edit i dislike is the Green with Evil part V when the dragonzord has his hand missles ready about to fire at the rangers and it goes to commercial. When it returns all you see is the rangers out of nowhere falling down like WTF

Wait, lemme see if I got this straight.

In July, they're releasing seasons ONE THROUGH SEVEN (as in, all of MMPR [including MMAR] through PRLG). In one set. Okay. Wow.

But then why bother releasing MMPR season 1 volumes 1 and 2? XD

It's because they want the show in stores and neither of them (except FYE maybe) want to carry sets that are large in size or price anymore so it actually makes sense.

The "Volume" sets are for both new and casual fans, and hardcore fans who can't afford the Seasons 1-7 boxset. The Seasons 1-7 set is for hardcore fans and collectors.

Overall, this is very exiting! :D Will the "Volume" sets have the extras too?

Nobody knows at the moment but it doesn't seem that season 1 will since the announced complete season set will have 6 discs instead of 7.
