What are your thoughts on her? Her story? Do you like her passion? How about her boy crazy anime self? Her distrust of and lack of interest in men in manga and PGSM? *Manga Rei had all the personality of a brick, but I liked Anime Rei being the wisearse, cracking insults and put-downs at Usagi's expense but always being there for her when the chips are down.

*Rei's not psychic (I think that was a dub mistranslation). She's just very in-tune with her spirituality. I also think the "boy-crazy" bit is an over-exaggeration. It may have happened two, maybe three times, but I don't recall Rei ever swooning with the same frequency as Usagi or Minako.

*In terms of romance, Manga Rei declared herself celibate, so no chance for her. Anime Rei may find someone, but it definitely won't be Yuuichirou (she sees him as a decent friend, but that's about it).

*From what I understand, Rei's mother died when she was young, and her dad dropped her on the temple steps with her grandpa almost immediately afterwards. Not exactly an ideal family situation.

i think her psychic powers possible come her being a sailor solider. she just could use them before being awakened as a sailor solder

Um... Rei is a psychic. She foresaw the attack of the Black Moon (saw Rubeus' face in the fire), she also dreamt about Pharaoh 90's arrival on Earth. Among other things that I probably don't remember.

And I like Rei. She is hotblooded, like me. Muhahah!

I think that's just her spirituality and open-mindedness in action. By "psychic", I'm talking about being able to read minds and influence thoughts and stuff like that.

I think Rei's psycic powers make her unique just like Hotaru's healing powers make her diverse. Each senshi has their own special strengths and uniqueness. I don't know why so many people want to hate on Rei. She's one of the strongest and most beautiful senshi in my opinion.

Again with the psychic claims. As far as I know, she could never read minds or use telepathy, whereas every supernatural thing she did was implied to be based on her Shinto teachings.

No she's not a mind reader but she's still psychic.

Well, one of the definitions of psychic according to the dictionary is a person that is sensitive to supernatural forces.
So she falls into that category as well.

If she is a born psychic we don't know, but she falls into the category of a psychic, therefore, she is one.
She also has some readings that something is wrong with the 666 bus in the episode she first shows up, if I'm correct.

I think also she is described as a psychic by the materials collection, but I'm not sure.

If I recall, Rei technically wasn't even supposed to get that vision. My theory is that since Rei is a woman whose Shinto teachings have developed an open-mindedness for otherworldly phenomenon, she is liable to occasionally intercept a vision that isn't meant for her. Michiru would also appear to have such an open-mindedness as befitting a woman who is exceptionally skilled in the creation of art and music (among "other things") .

Of course, them being Sailors destined to preven the foreseen apocalypse doesn't hurt their abilities, either. And I definitely wouldn't be surprised if Serenity, Setsuna, or some higher power was responsible for transmitting those visions.

Spiritually-attuned? Definitely. Psychic? Not the term I would use.

Telepathy is just one psychic ability, though. Just because she doesn't have telepathy doesn't mean she isn't psychic.

Not particularly. She's very unfriendly and cold to one-half of the human population in the manga, and very just plain rude in the anime.

Do I like Rei? Yes I do. Sure, she may be a tad bossy for my tastes, but at least she doesn't full around and she has a badass armament of fire-based attacks, which are badass. So yeah, Rei aces in my book.

Can't really blame her though.

All in all, she is defenetly one of my favorites.

Rei is my favorite inner. I love her fire. I love her dedication to her faith, even if it gets downplayed more and more as time goes by. I enjoy all the incarnations of her, from manga to live action and from musicals to dub.

Romance wise, I don't really see anything happen canon wise. I do have some ships for her in the anime and pgsm verse, but nothing that is canon.

There's only one Sailor Soldier that I don't love. And the one I don't love, I don't exactly hate, either. So yes, I love Rei!

Rei is my favorite guardian soldier in the manga and live action series. I love that she's very independent and a bit feisty while maintaining a sort of cool demeanor. The fact that she has no interest in men is one of the things that I like about her character. I don't like that she thinks all men are bad, but I think that is probably something that would change with maturity. I wouldn't mind if she eventually had a love interest, and yes, I do think that could eventually happen for her. It's just that Usagi, Minako, and Makoto are so boy crazy that it's refreshing to have characters (Rei and Ami) that have different priorities.

She couldn't be lying about having psychic powers, because specific situations that she predicts eventually come to pass. Her strong spiritual abilities is one of the most defining aspects of the character. There is nothing to indicate that she is lying, so it is pointless to suspect otherwise. I don't have a strong opinion about her parents - of course, her relationship with her father is sad, and the audience is meant to sympathize with Rei. I like her grandfather, but he really doesn't have enough character development to be very interesting to me.

I don't like what the anime did with Rei because I'm very fond of her character in the manga. I don't think it was necessary to change her character so drastically. In the manga, she can be a bit temperamental, but usually she's able to keep her cool. The anime takes her temper to the extreme, and makes her relationship with Usagi much more combative. For whatever reason, the writers also felt compelled to change her dream, interests, and talents - in my opinion, this combined with the changes to her personality make her a very different character. I'm very much a fan of Rei as she appears in the manga and live action. In the anime... not so much.

Rei is described as psychic even in the original Japanese anime. Not too sure about the manga or about which exact words were used.

And the idea that people who practice Shinto or are spiritually open-minded can all suddenly get visions, etc. is a stretch. =P The girl is psychic, and I think that being a practicing Miko helps to attune her abilities.

So you hate Rei in the Anime?

No, but I'm not a huge fan. Nearly everything that makes her one of my favorite characters in the manga is absent in the anime. I also think the anime enhances more of her negative qualities. She comes across as much more bossy, domineering, and combative in the anime. She's just not as likable to me. But she still has some endearing qualities and some good moments, so I definitely don't hate or even dislike her. I just find it disappointing that so much about her was changed.

Do you like how in the manga and PGSM she has a crush on Minako?

You bet I do!! Although I admit that in the anime she can be a little rough too Usagi, let's not forget that the little clashes between them vanish as Usagi matures toward the end of the series. Also she's the only one that didn't have to wear a wig in PGSM if I'm not mistaken

That's only speculation, of course. But yes, I like their relationship in PGSM. They're one of my favorite fan pairings in Sailor Moon.
