I don't know why so many people think this. ^_^'

In the R movie, we see Usagi and Mamoru's first meeting. He was six at the time. If the age difference were eight years, she wouldn't even have been born yet. I believe the age gap is four years. He's 18 and she's 14 when they start going out.

I think up to a ten year age difference is fine as long as you have some common ground. People mature at different rates, and perhaps an older or younger person might be better for them.

But...15+ is pushing it. Especially 30+. Geez...I always roll my eyes when I see these 60+ men who marry 20-something year olds and then are surprised when they leave them. Really?! Because you honestly think you're hot enough to attract them?! It's called money and/or green card.

That wasn't directed at you. ^_^' I'm just wondering where the others got it since their ages are explicitly stated in the supplemental materials of the movie's memorial album.

And just to throw some gasoline on the fire...

The Sailor Moon Manga Timeline wrote:
At the time of their first major, non-cameo appearances in their civilian guises in the manga, the ages of the Sailor Soldiers and Tuxedo Mask according to approximations in this timeline were as follows:

- Usagi Tsukino (Sailor Moon): 13 years, 9 months
- Mamoru Chiba (Tuxedo Mask): 17 years, 8 months
- Ami Mizuno (Sailor Mercury): 13 years, 7 months
- Rei Hino (Sailor Mars): 14 years, 0 months
- Makoto Kino (Sailor Jupiter): 13 years, 5 months
- Minako Aino (Sailor Venus): 12 years, 7 months
- Chibi Usa (Sailor Chibi Moon): 900 years, 0 months

The way I see it, the age limit should depend on the age of the younger partner.

A 20 year old going out with a 30-year old would be a little creepy, but a 30-year old going out with a 50 or even 60 year old would be more acceptable. In one's teens and even one's early 20's, one generally does not know what he or she wants out of life himself, let alone for someone else.

That being said, age is a real factor when it comes to a relationship. Not only is an older person more set in his or her ways, the fact is debilitating conditions become more likely as one ages. It's one thing to be prepared mentally to change the diapers of one's future partner, but it's another to have to actually do it. Yes, it can happen with younger people as well, but it is far less likely.

like i said a long time ago... years ago children as young as 12 were married off to people old enough to be their fathers or grandfathers. it's only since the "teenager" came up we think it's wrong for someone aged 16 to be engaged and married to someone thats 60! since before Crist this was happening to people between the ages of 10 -18 or when a girl had her first period as starting your period was a sign of being a women.

It still happens in some other countries e.g. i heared from a firend in america (Don't quote me on this) that some older (often rich) men have trophy wifes that can be as young as 18!

Ya know, that's not far from the truth. There are some young women out there that are willing to be trophy wives to older men only because of the size of their wallets. Look no further than Hugh Hefner. Being the the founder of Playboy magazine, it's not surprising that the models are willing to sell themselves out to that walking corpse in order to get some extra dough.

Those girls are simply selling their service to the one who can pay the right amount - just a typical commercial/market behavior & all. :)

I know many young celebrities are after old actors and many are4 attracted by the money, but not always.
My parents had 30 years. My father was poor when my mother met him, but she had admaration for the man he was.
I am probably like my mother because I can only fall in love with someone I admire. I am not interested by money, a simple life is ok for me.
I live far , far away of my love. She is 31 years older than me, but for me there is only her, she is my soul-mate, and I love her as my own life.
I don't care about what people think, it is a beautiful and romantic love and she knoes I only love her.

I personally prefer dating guys that are few years older than me because they are mature. My friends think that it's weird, but I really don't care what they think. My personal preference is no less than 10 years, I don't want to date a guy that's half my age. ^_^' I'll say this I can't help what I'm attracted to, it just comes naturally.

I don't have a problem with large gaps in age difference as long as the relationship is consensual and legal. Here in the US, Age of Constent laws vary from state to state. In my state of Tennessee the AOC is 18, but in the state of Kentucky the AOC is 16. Not only that, but in KY there is a law that allows up to a 4 year gap between a minor and an adult. This means that if the relationship is consensual an 18 year old man can date/have sex with a 14 year old girl; or a 21 year old woman can date/have sex with a 17 year old boy.

I don't approve of a 15 year old seeing a 30 year old, but I could care less about a 20 something seeing a 50 something.

Here goes a controversy that deals with cultures. IMO I really have no problem with it so long as they're consenting adults according to the region/culture's customs.

The definition of "adult" can also vary w/ space & time (& has actually been so). :)

I think the key is caring, respect and the ability to share eachother's hobbies.
If the wife is younger she most probably wants to go to clubs, and her older husband shouldn't stop her. In fact, he should go with her. And vice versa. Compromise is a key to happy relationships.

I don't think love (which comes from the soul) knows age because the soul is ageless. If 2 people meet and there is a spark and they have the emotional ability to commit to each other then I don't see why they shouldn't be together.

While that's totally possible, it's often more easily said than done in reality, tho, especially for a prolonged period of time - I've seen a number of unsuccessful cases, some even tragic. :(

One of my friends got married on April 2nd. Her husband is 13 years younger. I'm very happy for them and i see that age is not a problem. It's hard to explain but it's like they worship eachother. They are not trying to change one another.
"Don't wear this, don't go there" won't lead anywhere. Relationships are based on love, care and respect. If at least something is missing it isn't gonna work right. And not because of age, religion or something else.

#Don't try to change your partner.
#Respect your partner
#Be caring and supportive
#Don't be selfish, think of what your partner wants as well

I've seen a number of unsuccessful cases too, but i think if we digged deeper we'd find out that the problem wasn't really the age. I've even seen couples who follow different religions and are happy together because they respect eachother's POV.

Big age difference in itself doesn't directly affect the relationship, but it tends to generate some negative factors (which can also be present w/o it, BTW) which do. :)

An age difference of 13 years isn't really big in my consideration of any potent negative effects on the relationship, especially if both partners are already not young - I was actually talking about age differences of at least 15 years (a half generation) to 30 years (a full generation) & over (which's quite rare, tho). :)

This is something really hard to answer.... because age difference depends on more than just how many years between the ages. For example, there is a LOT of difference between the ten year age-difference of a 15 year old and a 25 year old versus a 25 year old and a 35 year old.

The maturity levels between the latter and former relationships are practically night and day. That's why AOC laws are in place; technically a boy or girl can be considered an adult when they hit puberty. But in many societies, the majority of teenagers lack the discrepancies to be able to make wise choices until they reach the age of at least 18.

Not to mention, say, a 45-y.o. & a 55-y.o. Another important consideration is the mental-age-vs-physical-age thing.

Even the age-of-18 (or any other ages) restriction is an arbitrary one, but for practicality purpose you gotta set a discrete legal limit. :)
