Maybe in time we'd have Mozambican, etc. fans joining this forum. :D

Does this include Brazil? I know it's not in Africa, but they do speak Portuguese (at least in one form or the other).

Probably not since the original anime had separate Brazilian Portuguese and European Portuguese dubs, with the European Portuguese dub being played in Africa.

No, Brazilian Portuguese is different than its European form.

112 Studios, the studio where they're recording the dub is holding a contest to pick one lucky winner to witness a recording session.

Here's a trailer. The new actress for Usagi (Raquel Ferreira) reminds me of the old actress a little bit but this one sounds a bit sweeter.

I think using a female voice instead for the narration would sound better. :)

So the first episode just aired in Portugal and I finished watching a livestream of it and can confirm that they're using the home video masters.

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CEBo4YSVEAEB8wi.jpg:orig - Web/BD comparison
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CEBpVvgUkAAXR54.jpg:orig - The second of the two sponsor cards that were also shown in Japan (first one from JP broadcast).

(excuse the stream quality)

Where did you see the livestream? I'd be interested in seeing the dub.

Just watched the second episode and, even though I don't understand much Portuguese, I really enjoyed it. I hadn't intended to watch the full episode, but I was enjoying it so much that I kept watching.

Usagi, Ami, and Naru's voices were SOOOOO CUTE! They fit the characters perfectly, I love them sooooo much.

Motoki and Jadeite's voices were good too. I liked Beryl's voice, but it was a bit witchy. It reminded me of Naz Edwards a bit.

Mamoru's voice was okay.

Luna's voice, on the other hand, was BIZARRE. She sounded older than Jill ever did, IMO, and her voice had such a crone-like, abrasive quality to it. I think it would work for Zirconia, perhaps, but for Luna it didn't work at all.

Other than that, I found it interesting that they're using the text versions of the OP and ED; I would have thought they'd use the textless versions. Maybe when they release the dub?

"Sailor Senshi" is translated just as "Sailor."
"Tuxedo Kamen" was left as is.
Their transformation phrases are the same as the original PT dub: "By the Power of the Holy/Sacred Moon Prism!" and "By the Holy/Sacred Power of Mercury!"

/

Just watched the first episode. It sounds like "Youma" has been translated as "Demon." I like Umino's voice; it reminds me of his voice in the Viz redub. I didn't really feel like his voice fit the character in the original anime, but it definitely works for Crystal!Umino. Also like the Viz redub, Shingo's voice is waaaay too old/deep for him. Ms. Haruna's voice was okay and Mama Ikuko's voice is cute.

Apparently her original voice actor, António Semedo, passed away years ago so Luna's voiced in this series by Artemis' voice actor, Cristina Cavalinhos, who also voiced Rei in the original along with some other roles.

http://wikimoon.org/index.php?title=Sai ... Dub_Actors

Not a fan of that voice myself but it is pretty interesting casting. Makes me wonder if she's voicing both cats for this show or if someone else will voice Artemis this time?

Of course, in the original dub, Luna was a male cat, thus having a man voice her/him. But it is interesting that they'd have Artemis's original VA (since Artemis was female in the original dub) voice her for the Crystal dub. I just wish she didn't have such a strange voice. (And I imagine someone else will voice Artemis.)

Yes someone by the name of Romulo Fragoso is voicing Artemis along with Jedeite, Kunzite, Motoki, Kenji and Shingo.

Apparently Toei's keeping a close eye on this dub so they most likely ordered them to change it after seeing how they were handled in the previous episodes.

Wonder how they'd call "Sabão Spray," then.

I wonder if they'll go back and replace the transformation calls in the first two episodes.

Maybe other countries will follow behind as well and show Crystal on TV. I think adult swim would be a good fit for American audiences.

Not bad at all with Jupiter's VA and yeah, the English transformations & attack names are here to stay.

Episode 6 screencaps:

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CFO2pmcWAAAAcDz.jpg:orig

For some unknown reason, the transformations & attacks were not in English this time. With episode 5's being in English, it wouldn't surprise me if this was a mistake on Biggs' part, especially if they have two different broadcast tapes of the same episode.

Act 7 just aired.

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CFtv3f7UUAAj4-6.jpg:orig - Still terrible :|
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CFtyTXdUgAAlRkb.jpg:orig
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CFtywFtUMAALQN3.jpg:orig *

(first two were taken by a friend since I caught the stream late)

Also the names were in Portuguese again, this is likely to cause trouble for Biggs if they keep this up since we know Toei had the episodes redubbed with the English terms.
