Anyone planning to go to Maldives?

Before it disappears. :|

What a beautiful tropical island.

I'd love to go to US and British Virgin Islands too. :innocent:

Considering that your country itself is comprised of so many tropical islands, I guess there should be some which're just as beautiful? lol As for the things to do in the BVI, I only know that it's good to register your company over there for tax or some other reasons.

BVI is a huge tax haven, I think Bermuda also is, the UK has some beautiful island territories good luck flying to them though xD. I always wanted to see the Pitcairn Islands even after the scandal, its amazing how people live so far from...literally anything other than water

I want to see Tuvalu, who knows how long it has left....

I also dream about visiting some islands someday, Especially some of the pacific island countries -Tuvalu, Kiribati, etc... Even Nauru, despite the latter not sounding as a good place. And beside the Pacific ones, I have several other distant pieces of land on my list.

Oh yes. We have beautiful islands and do plan on visiting the island of Palawan but being a local here its not that exotic as compared to Phuket, Thailand. ^_^

Difficult to explain. It is just that I somehow feel drawn to that part of the Earth. Yet why exactly is a mystery, even to me.

Maybe your past life is a local on those islands? lol

Perhaps... Who knows. :-)
But it is also possible that I've been influenced by a book - namely Arthur C. Clarke's "Dolphin Island", that opened the world of Science Fiction to me.

Better to put it in your bucket list before it sinks. :| :|

If visiting Maldives is on your travel bucket list, we suggest you plan the trip sooner rather than later because the country will either not look the same or worse, completely vanish from the face of the earth in the next 30 years. Majority of the hundreds of islands in Maldives are less than a meter to two meters above sea level, which means its floating beauty is also the reason it could we wiped off the map soon.

Due to particular geography of the area where I live, there are no floods, earthquakes, tornadoes, or any other natural disaster of any kind ever happening, now and for centuries to come. How comes none of those poor sinking guys from Maldives wants to change places with me? :ohdear:

A stretch of ocean across the coastline with never ending waves; a large flat lake glistening in the early morning mist; a quiet, dark pool at the bottom of a waterfall. A river passing by on its way to the ocean. These are nature’s incredible tranquilizers.

We know intuitively from experience that it’s healthy to be near the ocean. Now science is demonstrating that the ocean inspires creative thinking, reduces anxiety and promotes compassionate thinking.

The latest research is revealed by scientist and marine biologist Wallace J. Nichols in his latest book, Blue Mind: The Surprising Science That Shows How Being Near, In, On, or Under Water Can Make You Happier, Healthier, More Connected, and Better at What You Do.

Well, if you buy that "aquatic ape" theory I mentioned here earlier, that's even less surprising. lol

A list of beaches to not add to your bucket list. :grey:

Quote:
Over in Mexico, Playa Zipolite actually translates to 'Beach of the Dead'. Have you got your towels and beach bag ready to go?

The site explains that the beach is home to extremely dangerous undercurrents, and so many people have fallen prey to its good looks without realising the danger that a specialist lifeguard team has now been set up there.

Another beach with deadly riptides is Hanakapiai on Kauai island. An unofficial wooden beach sign there shows more than eighty tally marks representing those who've drowned there, although official reports put the number at thirty.

Meanwhile, the Telegraph recently cited beaches along the Jurassic Coast in Britain as being among the most dangerous thanks to the threat of cliff collapses and rock falls.

Another UK beach in Lancashire, Morecambe Bay, is also notorious for its quicksand and fast moving tides, which took the lives of 23 Chinese cockle pickers in 2004.

Over on Reunion Island, 140 miles from Mauritius in the Indian Ocean, the beaches are fast becoming feared for its shark attacks - there have been over 20 attacks and seven fatalities since 2011. Another stretch of coast known for sharks in Gansbaai in South Africa, which is great white shark territory. The water between Gyer Island and Geyser Rock is even known as Shark Alley.

Sharks, meanwhile, are not the only creatures to fear at the beach. At Fraser Island in Queensland, Australia, there's a side serving of jellyfish with your sharks and dangerous riptides. What's more, head inland and you may also find some of the world's deadliest spiders, dingoes, and large saltwater crocodiles.
