No SE games are not this bad :P If you want a level grind game, you want something by Nippon Ichi. Level Cap of 9999 anyone? Then the ablity to reset to level one while keeping a large chunk of your stats and doing it again? And doing this mutible times?

FINALLY after umpteen years, I finished SMAS! I used the code for the 16 level head start and my emulator's fast forward to grind out levels, but it made it all the more pleasant.

I have a peeve for games where you're given a large pool of characters and have to break them up. At least in Final Fantasy X you could how swap between them during combat, but in SMAS, Super Mario RPG and Kingdom Hearts, I was miffed that I could never use my whole pool at once, even in major battles where there was no reason for someone to sit out.

It's probably nothing unusual, but I found the many subplots far more entertaining than the main plot. I found the ending pretty anti climatic.

You get enough yen just from level grinding. I have too much yen, and I've maxed out all my items that can be purchased in shops. Now I have a pile of useless yen...

Duh, Apsu isn't that bad (beatable with the Inner Senshi at level 45-46 with a bit of luck). Now, how did you beat Nabu in Chapter 2? :)

I really love Another Story, I managed two copies of the original cartridge. Angel Studios was responsible for making Sailor Moon: Another Story and are now known as Rockstar San Diego. Kinda interesting considering that they made Red Dead Redemption.

That's a different Angel Studios. The one you're thinking of started off with one of its earliest projects being the N64 port of Resident Evil 2.

I love this game. Not only are RPGs my favorite genre, but I love how it combined the anime and manga. I thought I would never stop playing until I got stuck on the boss fight where I have to fight all the Opposite Senshi with the Inners(I know I could have used the Outers, especially game breaking Saturn, but it made way more sense story wise). It's going to take me weeks to grind for that battle. My game is on hold now until I feel the motivation to do that much grinding.

My only criticism is the imbalance in the level and experience system and how relies on days of level grinding which I hate in general. I'm hoping they make a sequel or remake now that the anime is about to come out and fix those problems.

Edit- I just started a second save file on my game because I forgot what the plot was. ^_^' I recently finished the Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, and Venus chapter. They took me a while to beat because I forgot how frustrating it was to raise their levels while constantly healing/dying: Mercury's was the easiest because of her high defense. Venus was the hardest because of her low defense and speed. Then they wait until the end to give a Speed Up(yeah, wait until after I died over in over the castle :x ). Hopefully I can finish the game this time around; I have a terrible habit of taking years to a finish a game.

the trick is to equip items so you're not super weak when you first start leveling. buy them and use them, it's the only way i've gotten through the game! venus is def a pain to deal with.

I did(in both save files) and it was still annoying. Shows how unbalanced this game is.

All right, first timer here, as I can't get Guild Wars 2 for a few weeks, so I decided to try this game out. I always wanted to see the sailor team in RPG action, so here it is how it went.

Intro was nice, although it wasn't always evident who was speaking. Not that it was important, and the exposition was done well. Then Luna starts causing earthquakes on Usagi's bed demanding that I wake up and do investigation. Wouldn't dare to say no! Then she introduced me to saving the game, and I took some time to get used to the controls.
After getting the hang of it, the journal, the list of spells and items, I'm exploring the rooms of the Tsukino family, and old RPG instincts kick in. I explore every corner of upstairs to see if I can get off with a few more gold pieces, maybe a good fireball scroll, battle axe... Nevermind, it's not Baldur's gate. Finding nothing, I go downstairs, and my first thought is that I should rip the plant out of the pot and use it as a club. Doesn't work. So I go around, find the kitchen, and think that maybe I should get a few knives. You know... to stab things. But lo and behold, Ikkuko is washing the dishes, so nope. Also, there are no knives lying around, so I go out.
Seeing trees, I futilely attempt to rip their branches off, to get a staff or club, anything, but this is probably not what I should be doing. Although when I was away camping, a good staff was the first thing I searched for, and it was worth it. Staves are awesome! There were no cars on the street, okay. Found medic, now I understand the after-post image about lots of tired people around. Found Ursula who says his son is handsome, I try to enter her house, maybe she has a staff, club or knife, even something to loot, but it doesn't work :D . Then next stage/screen/level hits, and a car hits Usagi. A CAR HITS SAILOR MOON! OH MY GOD! THEY ALMOST KI... nevermind, no collision detection.
Found Osa-P store (hehe nice!), but first went to bookshop where I learned I can drink potions in battle, general store (sells manga like sailor moon, apparently it restores your energy), and game center, where I learned that accessories boost my Attack and Defense. NO WAY! I thought you equip armor to increase your defense and a sword or a bow for offense, maybe a special spellbook for wizards, but I guess the ring of power will do it nicely. Also, the holy grail is called Mooncup. King Arthur is rolling in his grave.
But look! I can run faster if I press B, or I can even dash! It's funny. Spent a minute running around like a headless chicken (btw I saw quite a few headless chickens this summer), then decided to head for the Osa-P store.

OH wow! A DAEMON! Or daimon, outsider, Tanar'ri, imp, little devil, fallen one.... Well, monster of the day is attacking Naru-chan! Just like first episode. So I throw tiara, do a regular attack, and WIIN! The music is sweet during battle (the first transformation's music adapted), and there is LOOT!

All in all, it's a great starting experience. Kinda reminds me the Tales of the Alfa Legion (TOTAL), which is what I'm anxiously awaiting.
Early alpha gameplay.

So, yay for sailor moon another story.

Wow! You played the game for five whole minutes (alright, maybe ten) and feel that you know the game well enough to review it. I dare you to trudge on and see how ill-designed the game really is.

Let me know when you get to the Oppositio encounters. Without spoiling anything important, I find their reasonings to act out against Serenity to be somewhat valid.

Got to Nabu in ch2 this morning. So far mercury's solo arc depended on me getting some accessories and having a few spares (the attk bracelet was very useful) which are actually carried over in some shared inventory. So with 2 attk and 1 speed accessories, winning the first few encounters was difficult. I actually had to use food to recover between bouts. But I got through those obstacles, and reached level 13(or 14), found the magic moss for Hans' mother, and Stumbled upon Nabu who killed me after her flash-forward. Idk how to remove that poison thingy, or why I wasn't dealing enough damage, but I'll look it up this evening. Or whether there is any use for shabon spray/freeze.

^ Looks like I'm far from being the only person who finds Nabu problematic...

I used to buy lots of よくきくくすり (I think it's called BathMedic in the translation) to heal from Nabu's poison. But that makes the battle very long, 'cause purifying from poison wastes a turn, and you still need to refill HP if it's low. It might be more convenient to just buy lots of food with high HP recovery effect, heal regularly, and ignore poison altogether. On replays, I simply buy lots of Toilettes and Manicures in Chapter 1, because they're very useful in these boss battles...

Also, Shabon Spray weakens the enemy, so casting it on Nabu is not a bad idea at all.

 to you earlier post about "RPG instincts". That's so me now when ever I start a new game.

Did you find the special Mercury only accessories in those chest in the cave where you find the doctor? Once you equip those, Mercury should be able to KO most enemies in 1 or 2 hits.

Nabu is just plain hard and I just love how they bait and switch you with making her seem easy then freaking murders you in round 2 with increased defense and being able to poison you. I had to spend about 2 or 3 hours to get to level 19 so I could have chance in that fight; it was still a pain, but I didn't die/almost die on the first hit anymore. :keke:

Zsnes's speedup made it so much quicker to level up :D

I call it the player frustration dampener.
