Why not just add a "Sailor Says" at the end of the show, like "hey kids, homosexuality is bad - don't do that," a la the health warnings on cigarette packages. They could even add a flashing warning sign whenever Haruka & Michiru appear together or any other objectionable stuff of the show appears on screen.

But I've heard that those don't work.

The purpose of that is just for dealing w/ the political/religious pressures, so that the show or a large part of it won't be axed altogether.

This pretty much sums up what I meant by upbringing being an infulence on your sexuality. Of course it can't ever really make someone gay who was always completly straight. I've always been bi, but I think there are reasons why I swing more towards girls. Maybe I'm jsut greedy and want the best of both worlds.

I don't really think there's much in the world that can completly switch someone's sexual orintation one way or the other.

Or maybe just because girls are pretty also w/out clothes, while man's body is corny and furry.

I guess it's already been said, but I have a hard time believing that a series full of leggy anime babes can "turn anyone gay."

If life experiences even have anything to do with that sort of thing in the first place, they're likely going to be things a lot more intense than a TV cartoon. This psychologist was probably going for the shock factor, not facts.

And, no, it should not be possible to insult anyone by insulting a fictional character. :p Mamo-chan takes a beating here daily, but I don't take it personally, even though I generally like his character.

Now the Vatican should actually sponsor the show! (Yeah, that explains why it's made an overseas comeback in Italy 1st. )

I think that's their point, though. I mean, it is a common "theory" among homophobes that boys/men who like "girly" things might be or might turn gay. It's a bunch of crap; just wild sexism at work.

Like I liked a crapload of shows, games and sports considered "boyish" as a kid and I still do, and somehow they didn't turn me lesbian or even bi. It's all bullshit.

Yeah, word to that. I played with dump trucks and Lego and Ninja Turtles toys just as much as I played with Barbies and dolls, and I'm straight. I dunno what the big stink about pegging certain things into gender roles is, especially for children's entertainment.

Boys seem to get away with playing or watching "girlish" things less than the other way around, though. Kind of a bummer for them. Goodness knows they can't just play with or watch what they like, not what someone thinks they should like.

I personally know a very macho, straight guy who loves a hardcore shojo anime, & Rika (PGSM Ami) loves F1 racing & Dragon Ball but is nonetheless very feminine.

Oh dear. I'm fuming here. What a load of crap, seriously. I knew I was gay way before I watched my first Sailor Moon episode, which means I know I'm gay since I'm 5 or something. It's the opposite tbh. You don't become gay because of Sailor Moon, it's more that SOME gays boys like to watch it. I guess it's because we love the female body (not in a sexual way though) so we enjoy watching such beautiful girls and transformations.

If anything Sailor Moon did to me is that I learned to be open-minded and brave. That's all Sailor Moon even tought me. Never give up and give your best.

My girlfriend played with GI Joes, Hot Wheels, and watched Dragonball Z as a kid...and, as said before, she's my GIRLFRIEND, not a lesbian. So...I doubt that works in reverse.

Ditto. I'm a very girly girl, and somehow most of my interests and hobbies are from unisex to typically masculine: soccer, martial arts, the military, etc., my favorite foods and drinks are often associated with what "men like" as well and even some of the clothes I wear are boyish and so on. It's all crap. And very annoying. I know so many people who believe this bs IRL, too many.

Mostly parents... This is really sad but nothing we can do about it.

I think many people are ignorants...about it, for many some things like (transformers, Mazinger, Grendizer..etc) are for boys and (Candy, Lunlun,Sailor Moon and ...) are for girls.
So many women loved anime for(boys) but if a girl plays with Ninja turles figures we ar,ent going to say (lesbian) but when I speak with people and talk about many guys who loves Candy, Jem,Sailor Moon people always say : Are they guy?

Calm down! We are suposed to have freedom....and also about what we like and why imagine so many things, yes of course I know ay guys who collect SM items, but I know also hetero guys who loves SM!

This psychologist is foolish and ignorant and proof of why European (at least Italian) and generally non American medical institutions are not trustworthy. It is a proven fact that homosexuality is not chosen it is a polygenic trait enacted before birth that is found in every species. Point in fact homosexuality is in every species as a mechanism to prevent overpopulation and to have species to be prosperous. The origin of homophobia began in the Abrahamic religions as a means to make more workers and warriors so they could have them fight and die against the liberated pagans. It was also a means to make women into permanent sex obejects and birth mules by having women pregnant all the time.

It appears she hates the show and views it as detrimental to boys because it depicts strong powerful and beautiful women who are equal to men. It is believed in chauvanistic circles that if a man likes shows with powerful women then said boy will most likely be homosexual. This is why we have so many sexist boys who are violent to women because we raise our boys to think that liking strong females and female dominated entertainment is "gay."

I also notice that said person would not condemn male dominated programs such as GI Joe, Dragon Ball Z or other such shows because she would view male power as the norm. After all it is a Judeo/Christian/ISlamic concept that powerful women make children gay because women are not meant to be powerful and dominant.

Over all she is a testiment to the follishness of sexism and the stupidity of sexist and homophobic women.
