I recently got into doing animations, and of course that extended itself over to my love of Sailor Moon. So I thought about what fans would most like to see an animation of, since if I'm going to spend time doing it, I shouldn't be the only one enjoying it. I thought of a Sailor Saturn transformation, a movie/special of Parallel Sailor Moon, and a fan-made movie based around Hallowe'en. I still intend to do those at some point, but what's interesting me recently is the idea of a fan-made Sailor V Anime.
It would be called Codename: Sailor V, like the manga, and would have the same plotline. I didn't intend to really make any changes from the manga - not big ones, anyway, just adding smaller things. However, I was considering sort of branching it out a little so that the fan Animation more closely tied in with the Anime plotline than the Manga one - it makes sense, right? It would still have the same plot as the Manga but towards the end of the 'series' it would start to make references to things that happen in the Anime, such as her going to England, her pen changing shape, etc.
I started (and finished!) Sailor V's transformation (which is actually 'Moon Power Make-Up', although you probably already knew), which you can see here. I apologise for the quality, when I get a better image editing program I'll also try and put up better quality finished products.
Here's the link: http://s247.photobucket.com/albums/gg12 ... pFinal.flv

I was also thinking I could make up a few episodes to supplement the rest of the story line, 'filler', if you will. Just to try and stretch the Sailor V love, since it's a comparatively short series. Like animated fanfiction, I guess.
Of course, the animation and voices would not be entirely professional, since... well, I'm not a professional. But I'd like to think it would be at least something worth watching.
Thoughts?

Oh. My. God. That is what you call awesome. Like words cannot describe. Well done!!!!!

I really like your ideas and I really wish you luck because I know how hard putting something together on that large a scale can be. I've really wanted to see a Sailor V series of some sort. Just wondering, are you going to put some cameos in of the others? Or, because she's in England, we won't see them?

Thankyou very much! ; ~; It took a long time to do, so I'm glad people like it.

Thanks. It's hard, but it's do-able.
Yeah! There are cameos in the Manga, it would be terrible if I left them out, since that's one of the coolest parts... I was thinking one of those 'filler' episodes could be one that really sorta teases how close they were to meeting a year earlier than in the show.
Actually, she's not in England for this animation, she would just say she was going to go there for a bit at the end of it... so that's what she was doing in the Anime between when she finished as Sailor V and when she joined the Sailor Team as Sailor Venus.

Loves it. It seems absolutely fabulous.

I have the reprint manga and I also saw scanlations... although believe it or not I forgot a lot about it. For some reason, I have a really bad memory when it comes to comics. Seriously, I'm rereading Birds of Prey and I'm sure I'm laughing at jokes I've laughed at before.

But the overall plot is she becomes Sailor V and has to fight against monsters from an evil organization... and she teams up with a police agent. There's also this vigilante-type guy (is his name Ace or something?) who she kind of falls for. The only part I remember is when the guy who she has a crush on comments on how she'd look cute with a red ribbon in her hair.

And in case you need any ideas on fashion, you should check out my DeviantART gallery for my Sailor Moon Style Guide. It's a reference guide for the fashions on the show (go to my profile, the link should be there). A shameless plug does no harm.

Thanks. -Award accepting speech-

xD Don't worry, I have the same thing.
I'd like to say "Don't read it again so you can be surprised when you watch it!" But that's probably a while away, so read it again. It's fun!
That's the vague plotline, yeah... although there are a lot of touching things that happen. >,:
Ace seems like a vigilante at first but then you realise he's just an actor.
AND AN ASS
(But that's a different story.)

Kaitou Ace had a motive, didn't he? :(

Pants are a good place to hide things. :D It's a wonderful surprise. ^_^

Are portions of it rotoscoped? It sorta has that vibe (obviously not the costume details, just the body.)

It's hella beautiful - if the whole series is like that, it's going to be a treat to watch! Musta been a lot of work and then some. You should be proud!

If you do end up making the whole series that would be wonderful. That short clip of the henshin got me so excited @____@
I can't wait to see more info on this project!

Would you be all the voice acting yourself or recruiting other people?

I don't completely like style, it looks more like a typical American cartoon than anything even distantly resembling Japanese anime, but apart from that, it's done well.

I loved it. It's definitely got it's own style, but it's really nice nonetheless! The art is really good to me. Minako's transformation into Sailor V is simply incredible! *_*

I look forward to seeing more Minako!!!

they totally should make a sailor V anime. Maybe then there will be a new sailormoon anime. Besides they were supposed to do one before so why not.
anyway that was a good animation! It's really awesome.

New Sailor Moon anime? You mean new series, or the whole anime remade? :eeklez:

^_^' While I'd prefer a prequel Sailor V anime(leading up to the events of the already existing anime series) a completely new series would be nice. I welcome more incarnations of Sailor Moon. :keke: In terms of anime, it'll be tough to top the current anime series, but I could be wrong. :keke:

Wow, that was really cool! I like it. I'm looking forward to seeing more of these.

The other senshi won't be making an appearance in their prototype outfits, right? To be honest, I sure hope not. I've seen a lot of fanmade Sailor V videos on YouTube that featured the other senshi with names like Sailor Y, Sailor Q, Sailor Z, etc. I find that weird on multiple levels.

I love the idea of combining the manga storyline with the anime storyline. The idea of her going to England is cool, but I also like Ace Kaitou. I hope to see both.

I logged in for the first time in years just to say this is AWESOME. I loved your Mars Eternal Transformation but this is even better. I love the string symbolism and the fluidity of the animation. I wish you the best of luck. I can only imagine the work that will go into this project, but we're behind you!

Thanks to everyone who said they liked it! I really appreciate all the feedback and, of course, compliments (and not just because my head's the size of a continent). It really is wonderful.
Yes, it did take a while, but not a ridiculous length.

As for comments about the style... you know what? I feel the same way. It's like performance anxiety - I tried to make it look good, so of course, it ended up looking terrible. This is the closest I could get to something I was happy with. I'm not sure what it is, but I get really nervous and the faces and frames and stuff all end up looking strange. I'm hoping it will get better with practice and it will end up resembling the Anime style more.
Although, there's only so much I can do. I'm not a machine. D:

After I finish the opening I should be done with the stock footage for the first episode, and the rest of the animation is... comparatively easy. So when I'm done with that it will come easy.

For the question about voice acting - I was going to do it all. It seems that fortunately out of all the Soldiers, I sound most like Minako. Yay! I'm also interested in Japanese voice acting so I was planning on doing most of the voices myself. Fortunately there aren't as many characters as in Sailor Moon... phew!

Momomoko - FTW INDEED
I love how dedicated we are as fans. :'3

Panda-chan - No, the other Soldiers don't appear as Soldiers - only as cameo civilian appearances, and they don't meet Minako (that would be breaking Canon more than I wanted!). That really does sound weird... o _o; Sailor P and Sailor Q? They sound like they're from Furien. xD
Thanks for the input! I'm glad people like the idea... since an animated version of Sailor V that's exactly the same as the manga seems like a collosal waste of time. And Ace should make an appearance... if I ever get that far. >>;; Grumblegrumbleacegrumble...

Noordledoordle - I'm sorry, I don't know what a rotoscope is. ^^;; So maybe that means no...
Thankyou very much. :'3

Keep the questions coming! Even if it's just for my own pigheaded amusement! P-:

Oh, sorry XD

Rotoscoping is when someone animates by tracing live-action movement, like either from a projector or on a lightbox or in a computer program or something. Rotoscoped animation typically looks super fluid, and the lines kind of "boil" a little bit from frame to frame.

And actually, I like the style you're using, but I'm not a huge fan of super-thin anime bodies to begin with. Thicker and stalkier characters are way more visually interesting in my book!

Oh! I've heard of that, I just didn't know what it was called. >>; And if you can't tell, I didn't. ^^; I didn't use any references at all, actually.

Thankyou for that! I like the way I draw people, too.

However, if anybody was interested, I've been studying the style of the Sailor Moon anime to try and make it more similar. I hadn't realised how different mine had become! I guess I always thought that my style was too similar to Sailor Moon's, I never realised I had to brush up on it before I started on an animation. Anyway, I think the studying has payed off, and it's much closer now. I'll try and get some examples up soon.

Yeah, it was weird. Their senshi names came from their personalities. (For instance, Usagi was Sailor G, symbolizing justice.) Just to top things off, the Outers, Chibi Moon, and Chibi Chibi all make an appearence wearing prototype-esque outfits. I found it kind of weird, so I'm definitely glad that yours sticks to the canon.

At the same time, I'm also glad that yours isn't going to stick entirely to the manga canon. A word for word adaption probably wouldn't be very interesting. Something new is always welcomed, as long as it doesn't get carried away.

(PS: Are you going to make an anime styled opening? If so, I think you should use Minako's song Kiss Kiss Bang Bang from the live action version. It's just a suggestion, but I think that song would make a kick-ass opening to an anime about Sailor V. ;))

Ooh... Panda-Chan... I think that's a good idea. I love Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. Although, there's a lot of songs to choose from in terms of theme songs. I hate having to pick a theme... it feels like I've done so many for my series (Femmes Fatales). I've had "taskinst" (from Ayumi Hamasaki's "Secret" album), "Crash World" by Hilary Duff, "Gorgeous" by Idina Menzel and "Disturbia" by Rihanna. rantipole. I'm in the planning stages of doing a new movie (of the Femmes Fatales) and really feel like leaving out an opening theme and just running the credits at the end (despite my love for openings).

Other possible songs would be Ai no Megami or ROUTE VENUS. I think ROUTE VENUS would be perfect if it works. What song are you planning on using if you're that far yet....?
