(This should be the correct thread... I'm checking since I've just messed up a minute ago.)
For the most part, I've not just finished PGSM's Act 1, but I think I had some influence in what came to my head as I was sleeping. Not that it matters; I can't remember much of it and it's randomness that's irrelevant. But as the bulk of the message has been typed, again, aside from maybe Act 0 a couple of years ago, I've barely seen PGSM at all. I'm deciding to now. The only other Japanese programs I've recently touched (yet not for days) is
[After War Gundam X] and
[Turn A Gundam]. (I'm about half done of the former, and just over a fifth done of the latter.) It's been a while since I touched the BSSM manga or anime in my own re-reading/watching and I was in the middle of SMS in the anime and just beginning the SMR storyline of the manga when I stopped. Now I have to duck since I'm going to be pounced upon by others.
I'm going to be typing up my impressions as I watch Act 1 (putting them in quote boxes), and will be using the YouTube videos.

1 min. in: I like the minute-long teaser. You get a sense of mystery out of it, especially if you're a newcomer to the franchise. Not completely sure about everything, but I think it's well done.
3 min. 30 sec. in: Aino Minako a country star? Wow. (I'm referring to the poster two minutes and thirty-four seconds into the episode.) You might not get overblown animation to emphasize when poor ol' Usagi's in a hurry, but I still have to smile. Oh, and a nice house, too!
4 min. in: Ah, curiosity. I actually built up almost a pseudo-paragraph's worth on the basics of superheroes and identities, but that's nitpicking gone a bit far right now. I should enjoy the show. *hits head* And Ikuko's a softie, getting her mind side-tracked and forgetting that Usagi's more late than that rabbit from Cinderella. Edit: Cinderella? That was from Alice in Wonderland, you dope. *hits head*
5 min. in: Wow, now I know what people were talking about when it came to the CG graphics. Well, it's not bad and I can't rag on it much. It's like the cheesiness of that little Japanese DBZ film on YouTube that looked like it was made on the cheap.
5 min. 30 sec. in: Don't worry, Usagi. Other people get it worse off. Then again, I've seen examples where it's barely even brought to attention when someone arrives late. But I feel for ya, Usagi.
6 min. 30 sec. in: What happened to all the arcades in there?! Ugh, how times change, even back in late-'03. Now I can't play Virtual-On or AEUG vs. Titans there anymore! The cuts are going faster than some few popular U.S. crime shows even around that time and especially today. And maybe I should feel greatful at the moment that Usagi doesn't have a high-pitched voice. No, Kotono! I liked your voice too! Don't come after me with that!
8 min. 55 sec. in: I shouldn't go minute-by-minute in reaction. And the CGI's making me think of whatever Nickelodeon has been airing in the morning. Mamoru definately was creepy there. And if he had a little bit of makeup on there, he could make a good Vulcan in appearance. No, I hadn't seen the Star Trek Redux movie yet. "I might find it here..." "...And just take the others anyway in the name of finding the Ginzuishou anyway. It doesn't hurt if I just pretend it was a necklace someone just placed there! It looks expensive! Maybe I can get the new Aile Stri--" Okay, I'll stop. But he still has a little creepy Vulcan look.
9 min. 40 sec. in: Impressive CG with the watery hands and glowing plushie-that-isn't-but-can-be-in-a-toddler-cartoon-show Luna! Uh oh... Run! Get out of there before the slow Youma (is it one?) gets you! And here we end Part 1.

2 min. in: Lunch in the morning... I guess breakfast is no longer the most important meal of the day. And it disappeared in Japan! More impressive CGI. And if it's all a dream Usagi, wouldn't you want to try something wild? Maybe pull a Bill Murray/Groundhog Day on us and hope you wake up to Leeann Rimes. That's her on the poster, right? It's not? And Luna, lots of people care. Don't you worry; I'm sure you can motivate others to work on the umphteenth problem of Youma on Earth. You wanted a soldier? Go wake up Char Aznable; I'm sure he can be a good soldier. Just give him a huge shades-of-red, mono-eyed robot for him to work with.
2 min. 45 sec. in: I know it's not anime, but no going out-of/coming in-to little few-second segment thingies? Another brain-fart; I forgot the term for those... Edit: Eye-catches, right?
3 min. 50 sec. in: The music has been there, but not so prevalent yet. I know it'll come when we get there later on, but it seems you could notice the anime's musical score a little more. Yes, Usagi, you can go back to bed. Even if I'm wrong, don't resist the bed. Y'know, I remember seeing a Japanese commercial of a guy just getting up, and the sheets jump out and grab him back to the bed. The guy freaks out, gets back out, and grabs a drink that looks like a Capri-sun or something (but wasn't; I just forgot the brand name of the drink in that commercial).
4 min. in: Okay, I underestimated Usagi's will. Oh, well.
4 min. 20 sec. in: Naru's magical Youma detector's working well! I thought it would be more like, "You're freakin' me out here, mom!"
4 min. 35 sec. in: Ahahah... "Terminator 2 Redux: Naru's Day" (Run Luke, run!)
4 min. 52 sec. in: Mamoru to the resc--What? Oh, it's Jadeite with something close to an '80s hairdo. I say we need Bill Murray and the other boys in gray going through a time warp, get their equipment, and come over here in Japan for business. But don't mess with The Finger, or you'll be poked to sleep!
5 min. 42 sec. in: Ouch! Are you trying to break your rear end?
6 min. 20 sec. in: And the music's starting to rev up pretty good here.
6 min. 41 sec. in: That's a small broach...
7 min. 25 sec. in: Impressive! And instantaneous; without more scyphate music and flashy transformation stock footage with the character working her voice on overtime, to boot! But where's everyone in Tokyo? Usagi could've been seen, right?
8 min. 56 sec. in: Now the three-armed Youma can't get people? Then again, Naru's mom wasn't really putting up much of a fight just standing there.
9 min. 47 sec. in: Mini-broach and lipstick applied effortlessly? Why not let the broach do all the work? Oh well... Kotono had better delivery, but I still liked this.

PGSM Act 1 - Part 3 (YouTube)22 sec. in: So the speech was on auto-pilot? I thought Usagi would've commented on her outfit first...
41 sec. in: Maybe you have a point, Luna: Usagi should just keep her auto-pilot on and work like most crime shows; to the point and character interaction is always about the case. No personality.
57 sec. in: Hah, I was right! Nice dancing, Usagi. But shouldn't you be going after the Youma and not avoiding it?
1 min. 10 sec. in: I just noticed something... Why the speghetti noodles in front of Usagi and not at her back? It's not like in the anime where it's so long she can potentially trip over them.
1 min. 40 sec. in: Autopilot wins! No Tuxy to drool over yet, to boot!
1 min. 56 sec. in: Okay, I commented too soon. Slow knife too. Keep your auto-pilot on Usagi, and you'll have Neo going, "Whoa." with your dodging skills. Okay, not really.
2 min. 55 sec. in: Creepy guy's an instant charming fellow. And come on! I know it was anime, but Toru managed to execute it well! I'm sure you guys could've pulled off some pretty good camera work and have him disappear after waving around the cape. Oh well; I guess I'm expecting too much. And now that you say it, Usagi, yeah... I guess I agree. But then it's kind-of like your magical girl name.
3 min. 35 sec. in: That was pretty impressive... And Beryl doesn't look as much like a witch anymore.
4 min. 4 sec. in: Excited, huh? Well, the fun's coming, same GMF time, same GMF channel!
4 min. 20 sec. in: That was a nice zoom-out ending. The rest looks like a preview for episode 2, so I'll just stop right here.
I was being too nitpicky just going point-by-point as the show went on, and turned a 20-30 min. show into a lot longer. I just need to stop that from here on in and just enjoy the show a little more and just give my overall impression. Which is this:
In spite of nitpicking and just pausing to give my two cents here and there, I liked it. I know it's after it had aired so I can't exactly hope that the show has promise or improves on this or that as it continues. And I've been spoiled by certain things, yet I still am entertained. It shows promise right at the beginning and I guess I can get sucked into this incarnation of Sailormoon.
Brushing most things aside, there are still things I would nitpick... The music is alright, and I liked the intro to the show
(which looks like it can spoil newcomers to SM overall, but that's just no different than episode titles and intros to other shows). The problem in both cases is that the musical score isn't as catchy as the anime's (as super-repeatative as it can be), and I think Moonlight Densetsu works better. Even after not popping in any given version of Moonlight Densetsu, I still can recall how catchy it sounds.
Where's Sailor V in the rest of the episode? It's a good teaser, but I would've thought since V was going after Tuxy the once-again Jewel Thief and the Dark Kingdom, that she would've been spying around if she can.
The basic premise is kept but already PGSM is going in its own way. I don't think it's a bad thing, especially if you're retelling the whole Dark Kingdom story arc of SM for the fourth time. The acting here and there generally could've been done a bit better, but maybe I'm setting my standards a little too high. It's still good enough for me to stay interested in PGSM.
I'll be sure to watch Act 2 around the time it's brought up.
