Recently I saw someone had replied to an old thread on the main message board and somebody then replied to that person with a snarky comment asking why they revived a 5 year old thread.

Is there some reason this is frowned upon and seems to bother people?

I always found this confusing especially if it was a thread with a ton of replies. Why start a new thread that asks the same question as an older thread that has a bunch of replies. Doesn't it make sense to add to the older thread especially if it's one that already has such a big number of replies?

I'm wondering if it's just me or if there is something I just don't get

I feel more comfortable reviving an old topic rather than creating my own.I'm not sure why but with a short apologize about reviving an old topic then writing what I want to write is pretty good to me ^_^'

^^ yeah. Even if you do the same question, most likely a mod will merge all the posts with the ones of that old thread, so the 5 five year old dead thread will be revived again anyways... :P

Some people use that forum feature where all the new and updated post are listed like the "View unanswered posts" or "View active topics."

These people are what I call the "inflexible lazy ones" P-: and refuse to adjust or adapt to the situation and do a lot of complaining. P-:

I myself don't see the issue of reviving an old topic, so long as it's with an actual post adding to the topic or an update
and not just "bump" -etc.
Sometimes it's necessary because after a while you can't edit your posts so posting a new post is the only way to update.

Reviving an old thread is good if you have an idea of a topic but a similar one exists so you just post there instead.

On top of that it's kinda the 1st rule here :

Quote:
Do not start duplicate topics.
If there is a thread on a certain topic that you would like to discuss, please keep the topic to that thread instead of starting a new one.

As I consider this issue settled/closed now, I'd like to lock this thread but can't do it ATM due to an unknown technical glitch, so pls don't make anymore posts on this thread everyone. Thx. :)
